Chapter 1, "Emancipation"
Chains
I work from the time the rooster crows, ‘til night when I can’t see. Slave catchers and bloodhounds stand guard, so I don’t run north to be free.
Black skin is the crime I’m guilty of. My sentence, life on a southern plantation. Pickin’ cotton and the sting of a whip are new to Africans who ruled their own mighty nation.
Why is my wisdom and knowledge feared with bitter envy and a jealous heart? Can our different skins learn to share this world, or will the spirit of hate forever keep us apart?

Chapter 2, "Black Lives"
Time
It’s time we remember the power of prayer, take pride in our thick wooly hair, don’t have to worry about being shot, thank God for the things we’ve got, it’s time.
It’s time we celebrate our chocolate skin, appreciate the love of each faithful friend, remember those who got left behind, feel the comfort of peace of mind, it’s time.
It’s time we get educated in a classroom and not jail, walk towards Heaven and not into Hell, receive a blessing and not a curse, run life’s race and finish first, it’s time.
It’s time we put our faith in God’s word, believe facts and not lies we’ve heard, see through the world’s confusing haze, dream sweet dreams of brighter days, it’s TIME.

Life
Sometimes life’s a bumpy ride, you better keep God by your side, avoid that pothole foolish pride, sometimes life’s a bumpy ride.
Sometimes life’s a long hard fall, your forward progress starts to stall, you feel your back’s up against the wall, sometimes life’s a long hard fall.
Sometimes life’s a little tough, your thin patience has had enough, curtain situations can get rough, sometimes life’s a little tough.
Sometimes life’s a beautiful place, your worries gone without a trace, thank God for His Mercy and His Grace, sometimes life’s a beautiful place, sometimes life’s a beautiful place.

Chapter 3, "Mercy And Grace"
Walk By Faith
Sometimes walking by faith isn’t easy, at times it’s a hard thing to do. Believing in what’s not touched or seen and not doubting God’s word is true.
When I travel down the wrong road and end up where I shouldn’t be. The Lord touches my soul, turns me around and His mercy and grace lead me.
Which direction to take becomes clearer as the Holy Spirit gives my blind eyes sight. Jesus made a path for me to follow, with God’s love as my guiding light.
